Applications of Spatial Frequency Domain Imaging in Thyroid Eye Disease
Abstract
Spatial frequency domain imaging provides access to multi-spectral absorption and scattering information of biological chromophores and water to provide quantifiable detail about tissue hemodynamics and spectral content. We propose to use SFDI to define an optical signature map characteristic for healthy eyes, and TED before, during, and after treatment. We will use this information to establish clinical end-points and understand strategies to modulate hemodynamics, osmotic gradients, and collagen remodeling.
Biography
Dr. Lilangi Ediriwickrema is a board-certified UCI Health ophthalmologist who specializes in ophthalmic plastic and reconstructive surgery, neuro-ophthalmology and orbital disease.
She received her medical degree from the Yale School of Medicine in New Haven, Conn. She completed an internship at Memorial Sloan Kettering Cancer Center in New York City and a residency in ophthalmology at the Keck School of Medicine of USC, where she was chief resident. She also completed a fellowship in neuro-ophthalmology and orbital disease at Johns Hopkins University’s Wilmer Eye Institute in Baltimore, Md., followed by fellowship training in ophthalmic plastic and reconstructive surgery at the Shiley Eye Institute at UC San Diego Health.
