Welcome to the Biophotonics Summer Undergraduate Program
& Student Research Intern Program
Congratulations on being accepted into the Laser Microbeam and Medical Program's (LAMMP) Biophotonics Summer Undergraduate Program (BSURP) and the Student Research Intern Program (SRIP) at the Beckman Laser Institute and Medical Clinic (BLIMC). These programs are non-credit courses of study designed to provide high school and undergraduate students the opportunity to experience research as an apprentice scientist under the direct supervision of a professor in the School of Medicine and LAMMP. The programs will offer you an exciting experience in the biological and biomedical sciences within the experimental laboratory, medical clinics and various field research settings, LAMMP and clinical faculty lectures and seminars, and an end of the summer BSURP symposium at which you will present your scholarly summer research at the BLIMC.
SRIP and BSURP will need for you to complete and submit all required application materials and meet with Midge Garrison before the summer program's orientation day on Monday, June 22, 2009. If you have already met with Midge Garrison and began/completed the application process, please disregard this request.
The application process is as follows:

Please make sure that your email address is current and that you check often. Most of the summer program announcements and communcation between the staff and students is sent electronically.

In addition to the application forms, we will need a copy of your driver's license or other photo ID, resume, proof of medical insurance, and a copy of your current vaccination record. The summer program orientation day will start at 11:00 AM on Monday June 22, 2009 and will include a welcome and presentation from Dr. Bruce Tromberg, lunch with the LAMMP faculty, and a tour of the BLIMC and research labs.
If you have any further questions, please feel free to contact Midge Garrison at midgec@uci.edu or Allen Sabio at sabioa@uci.edu.
